Her experience of the breakout is vastly different from Nora and Lizzie’s, two white students who have lived in Wolf Creek their whole lives. It’s told through Nora Tucker’s point of view but also includes artifacts from her two friends (Elidee and Lizzie).Įlidee is new to town and one of the only African American students in the school. The story is told through letters, school announcements, texts, and comics that are collected for the town’s time capsule. Breakout is a fantastic book! The format is what drew me to it originally, but the story kept me reading.
